Kossuth Regional Health Center offers visiting orthopedic services in partnership with Northwest Iowa Bone, Joint & Sports Surgeons, bringing specialized care to patients right here in Algona. Orthopedic care focuses on conditions affecting the body’s musculoskeletal system—including bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons—helping patients regain mobility, reduce pain, and return to the activities they enjoy.

Our visiting specialists evaluate and treat a wide range of conditions, including:
- Joint pain and arthritis
- Sports-related injuries and strains
- Fractures and trauma
- Tendon and ligament injuries

Care may include both non-surgical treatments (such as injections, bracing, or therapy recommendations) and advanced surgical options (at Spencer Hospital location) when needed, all designed to restore function and improve quality of life.
Specialty Expertise Close to Home
Patients at KRHC are cared for by a collaborative orthopedic team, including:
- Dr. Jason Hough, DO, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and joint replacement, including anterior (muscle-sparing) hip replacement.
- Bria Scholerman, PA-C, a physician assistant who works closely with the surgical team to evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and support care from diagnosis through recovery. She earned her Master of Physician Associate Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and sees patients in Algona and surrounding communities.
Together, this team provides coordinated, patient-centered care—ensuring timely access to evaluation, treatment, and follow-up without the need to travel far from home.
