Kossuth Regional Health Center partners with East Village Foot & Ankle Surgeons to bring specialized foot and ankle care to our community. Visiting specialists Dr. Alexxis Cary and Dr. Curtis Marker provide advanced evaluation and treatment for a wide range of conditions—from everyday foot pain to more complex injuries and deformities.

Our foot and ankle specialists offer both non-surgical and surgical treatment options, always beginning with the least invasive approach whenever possible. Their goal is to help patients understand their condition, explore treatment options, and return to an active, comfortable lifestyle.

About Dr. Cary

Dr. Alexxis Cary is an Iowa native and is thrilled to serve her home state. She grew up in Gilbertville, IA and attended Don Bosco. She was a competitive gymnast, which led to her introduction to foot and ankle surgery after an injury. 

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Iowa State University followed by her medical education at Des Moines University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. She then completed her surgical residency at University Health Lakewood in Kansas City with a credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery.

Dr. Cary is board certified with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She has experience in a variety of foot and ankle pathologies including bunion and hammertoe deformities, flatfoot deformities, sports related injuries, trauma, diabetic Charcot reconstruction and limb salvage, and wound care. She is also trained in minimally invasive techniques for foot and ankle surgery. She values creating individualized treatment options and forming a trusting relationship with her patients. 

In her free time, Dr. Cary enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports, doing home DIY projects, sewing, and traveling.

About Dr. Marker

Dr. Curtis Marker is a native of Rockford, Iowa and is thrilled to serve his home community. Dr. Marker completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Northern Iowa. He then attended medical school in Des Moines at Des Moines University, College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery. Following his medical education, he completed his surgical residency at Hennepin Healthcare, a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 

Dr. Marker has extensive training in a wide variety of foot and ankle pathologies, with expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques for correcting hammertoes, bunions, and flatfoot reconstruction. His practice also focuses on sports related injuries, trauma, fractures, ankle arthroscopy, arthroscopic ankle fusion, and reconstruction of tendons and ligaments of the foot and ankle. He also offers treatment for arthritis, total ankle joint replacement, and pediatric foot and ankle care (including trauma, brachymetatarsia, and clubfoot deformities).

Dr. Marker’s approach to patient care is rooted in empathy and clear communication. He takes the time to thoroughly explain his findings, review all available treatment and management options, and discuss expected outcomes with his patients. This commitment to an empathetic and collaborative process ensures patients feel informed and supported throughout their care journey. 

Dr. Marker is board qualified with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Iowa Podiatric Medical Society, and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

In his free time, Dr. Marker enjoys spending time with this family, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Fun Fact: Before attending medical school, Dr. Marker was part of the East Village Foot & Ankle Surgeons clinical team, working as a scribe alongside Dr. Justin Raatz.
