DAISY Award
Did you experience exceptional care at Kossuth Regional Health Center? Nominate a great nurse from KRHC as a candidate for the DAISY award. All nominees and the overall winner are honored annually during National Hospital Week each May.
All are welcome to submit a nomination – patients, guests, volunteers – anyone who has seen a special nurse in action.
DAISY award nominees should be individuals who show compassionate care and illustrate other important criteria, such as:
- Makes a special connection with patient and family
- Works well with the health care team to meet patient and family needs
- Makes patients and their families feel comfortable
- Provides excellent education to patient and families
- Includes patients and families in the planning of their care
- Goes above and beyond what is expected
DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The Foundation was formed in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The primary mission of the Foundation is to help express gratitude to nurses for the work they do for patients.

BEE Award
Kossuth Regional Health Center is proud to offer the BEE Award to celebrate staff from all non-nurse and non-physician* disciplines who personify the remarkable patient experience for those we serve. Just like a DAISY would not be able to grow without the help of the BEE, our nurses could not do what they do for our patients without the outstanding teamwork of other healthcare professionals.
That’s why Kossuth Regional Health Center recognizes our dedicated support personnel alongside nurses with the BEE Award. Anyone at KRHC who supports patient care — such as registration staff, patient financial services, housekeepers, lab professionals or others — can be nominated for the BEE Award. Just like the DAISY Award, nominations can be submitted by patients, families, and colleagues. Recipients will be chosen by a committee at KRHC and will be honored during hospital week each year in May.
Criteria for a team member to receive the BEE Award:
- Demonstrates ICARES: Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect,
- Excellence, and Stewardship
- Has a positive attitude that inspires others
- Promotes teamwork
- Creates caring connections
- Goes above and beyond what is expected
