Board of Health

The Kossuth County Board of Health supports public health by leading the effort to prevent disease and improve health in the community. This includes physical, mental and environmental health.

Promoting and protecting the health of the public depends upon capable and dedicated community leadership by the local Board of Health. The board consists of five people that are appointed by the Kossuth County Board of Supervisors for three-year terms and the involvement of a representative from KRHC Community Health.

Meeting Times

The Kossuth County Board of Health meets in February, April, June, August, October, and December on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30A.M. at KRHC.

Core Functions & Services

 Assessment

  • Monitor the health status of the community to identify health problems
  • Diagnose and investigate health problems and health hazards in the community
  • Evaluate effectiveness, accessibility and quality of personal and population-based health services

 Policy Development

  • Develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts
  • Enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety
  • Research for new insights and innovative solutions to health problems

 Assurance

  • Inform, educate and empower people about health issues
  • Mobilize community partnership to identify and solve problems
  • Link people to needed personal health services and assure provision of health care when otherwise unavailable
  • Assure a competent public health and personal health care workforce
