Dr. Thoma discovered urology at the end of his medical school training. He found that he loved surgery, but also wanted the opportunity to help his patients through a variety of modalities. In urology, we often have multiple options with which to treat a particular condition, and he thoroughly enjoys counseling and educating his patients to help select the best treatment plan.

Dr. Thoma was also drawn to the technology of the field. Urology is often on the forefront of innovation in the realm of surgery, providing practitioners opportunities to elevate our care and improve patient outcomes. The development and adoption of robotics in surgery is a great example.

Dr. Thoma feels it is the duty of medical professionals to empower patients to make the best choices for their particular circumstances. Knowing that his patients understand and feel confident in their treatment plan is one of the many highlights of his profession.
