Tuesday walk in vaccine clinics at KRHC

Kossuth Regional Health Center and Community Health are offering a variety of opportunities for people that still need to receive their seasonal flu or H1N1 vaccine.

Beginning on January 19, walk in vaccine clinics will be held on Tuesday mornings from 7 to 10 a.m. in the Community Health office, located in the lower level of KRHC.  Tuesday afternoon walk in clinics will be held from noon until 3 p.m. in the EMS Room of KRHC.  Tuesday walk in clinics are planned for January 19, January 26 and February 2.  Both the seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccine will be available for those six months and older.

A vaccine clinic will be held on February 2 at the Algona vs. Bishop Garrigan basketball game.  Seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccine will be available at Algona High School in the commons area from 4 to 5 p.m. during the junior varsity game and at Bishop Garrigan from 6 to 7:30 p.m. during the varsity game. 

The cost of the seasonal flu vaccine is $27 for flu shots and $45 for flu mist. The H1N1 vaccine is free.  A separate consent form for each vaccine is available online at www.krhc.com.

“Overall influenza activity in Iowa and the United States has decreased over the past month, but we are not out of the woods yet. There is potential for both H1N1 flu and seasonal flu activity to rise and to continue for several more months,” said Carol Gress of Community Health. “We have plenty of vaccine supplies on hand and the H1N1vaccine is available to the general public.”

To date, Iowa has received more than 1,164,000 doses of the H1N1 influenza vaccine.  KRHC Community Health has delivered approximately 3,800 doses of the H1N1 vaccine locally since it became available in October.
