The Blanks hit target in Algona performanceIt’s not often that Kossuth Regional Health Center staff entertains television stars in the hospital lobby, but on Monday, April 19, an a ccapella quartet featured on the TV show Scrubs stopped by KRHC for a visit. The group was in town for a show on Sunday night at O.B. Laing Middle School, produced by KRHC, in partnership with the Haggard Twogood Charitable Trust. The Blanks, also known as Ted’s Band, performs often on the medical comedy Scrubs and perform live shows across the country. Approximately 200 people in the audience enjoyed sketch comedy, coupled with a cappella versions of TV and movie themes such as “Charles in Charge,” “The Facts of Life” and the “Six Million Dollar Man.” The show opened with some local flavor, with a few numbers performed by the Algona Cornbelt Chorus. During the visit to KRHC The Blanks performed a few songs, including a happy birthday tune for a newborn baby and a romantic ballad to Auxiliary volunteer Helena Dodds. Staff, volunteers, patients and guests gathered in the lobby for the casual performance, with many taking the opportunity to take pictures or get autographs from the band afterwards. Proceeds from the show on Sunday evening went toward the KRHC Foundation’s Dialysis campaign, which is closing in on its goal of $250,000. “This group was a lot of fun to watch both on and off the stage,” said KRHC Foundation Director Nancy Grandgenett-Besch. “We appreciated the opportunity to work with the Haggard Twogood Trust to bring this group to Algona and raise awareness for our Dialysis campaign.” April 19, 2010 |
