Progress continues on hospital additionWith the first phase of the three story addition project wrapping up soon, the staff at Kossuth Regional Health Center are preparing for phase two which involves the remodeling of the current patient rooms. “The second phase of this project will bring a lot more changes for our staff and the patients,” said KRHC Administrator Scott Curtis. “We’re starting to hear and see more activity on our nursing floor as we transition from building the new section of our facility to remodeling the older patient rooms and other departments within the hospital.” Health care services will not be disrupted during the remodeling phase, but patients are very likely to experience the sights and sounds involved with construction and remodeling during their hospital visit. “We are thankful to our patients for understanding that this is necessary for progress to continue on the new addition and remodeling project. The end result will be a fantastic, updated facility that will meet their needs for decades to come,” Curtis said. The “Transforming Healthcare, Building for the Future” campaign is a $13.5 million project that created a three-story addition onto the east side of the hospital. The additional space will allow for private inpatient rooms, each equipped with a full private bath. The addition will also bring about improvements on the first floor of the hospital, restructure the dining area, kitchen and materials management area, expand the surgery pre-op/recovery area and relocate physical therapy to the second floor of the hospital. Project coordinators expect the new part of the facility to be complete by this summer, with the second phase complete in December. May 24, 2010 |
