KRHC to complete first phase of new addition

Just over a year after Kossuth Regional Health Center broke ground on its three-story addition project, the first phase of the building is nearly complete.

“We anticipate that the new construction of the three-story addition to the hospital will be done by early June. Then we can focus on the second phase, which involves remodeling our current inpatient rooms,” said hospital administrator Scott Curtis.

The $13.5 million project added a three-story section onto the east side of the hospital.  The additional space will allow for private inpatient rooms, each equipped with a full private bath.  The addition will also bring about improvements on the first floor of the hospital, restructuring the dining area, kitchen and materials management area.  Physical therapy will also be moved from the basement up to the second floor of the new addition.

Woodruff Construction of Fort Dodge has served as the general contractor for the project.

Kossuth Regional Health Center operates a 25-bed critical access hospital, two physician clinics, home care, hospice, and public health nursing agencies.  KRHC employs approximately 220 individuals and maintains Master Affiliation and Professional Services Agreements with Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

“We’re excited about the improvements this will bring for our patients and the efficiencies it will bring for our staff,” Curtis said.

The second phase of the construction is expected to be complete by December.
